How Do I Create a New Report in eyko Creator?
Step-by-Step Guide to Building Custom Reports Using Streams, Filters, and Data Configuration
Creator Training Guide: Building Your First Report
Overview
Welcome to Creator Training — where you learn to leverage streams in eyko to construct reports, dashboards, and AI inquiries.
This guide walks through the steps to create a new report using the Creator interface.
Step 1: Create New Content
-
Click “Start.”
-
Name your content: Type Creator Basics.
-
-
Tags are used to group content for easy organization.
-
Click the drop-down to assign one or more existing tags.
-
You can also create a new tag or skip tagging altogether.
Add tags (optional):
-
Tip: When no tags are assigned, the content will appear under an “Unassigned” category.
Step 2: Choose a Content Type
Each content type defines how information is delivered to users. From the Content Type dropdown, review the options:
Type |
Description |
---|---|
Conversations |
Allow users to ask and answer AI inquiries based on stream data. |
Dashboards |
Interactive data visualizations via embedded Power BI workspaces. |
Documents |
Load and display external files directly within eyko. |
Folios |
Centralized containers for reference materials (PDFs, images, URLs). |
Playbooks |
Generate analytical insights and action plans from stream data. |
Reports |
Hyper-configurable grids for ad hoc or detailed data analysis. |
Web |
Embed external web content directly within eyko. |
For this tutorial, select “Reports.”
Step 3: Select a Report Type
Choose one of three available report types:
Report Type |
Description |
---|---|
Columnar |
Simplest layout; displays fields in columns. |
Group |
Adds row grouping alongside columns. |
Pivot |
Most dynamic; supports both row and column grouping. |
Select Columnar to continue.
Step 4: Connect a Data Stream
-
Click the Stream/Data Set dropdown.
-
Select Designer Basics.
You’ve completed the setup — eyko will automatically advance to the next configuration step.
Step 5: Report Configuration Sections
Report configuration is organized into several sections, indicated by bubbles or icons:
-
Pages: Fields not displayed in the report but available for filtering.
-
Columns: Fields that appear directly in the report view.
Each section can be activated by clicking its icon.
Step 6: Add Data Fields
-
In the Columns section, click to open the list of available fields.
-
Use the search bar to find fields — type part or all of a field name (e.g., Customer).
-
Choose Customer Name to add it to the report.
-
Repeat to add other fields as needed.
Shortcut: Click the Magic Button to let eyko automatically add relevant fields, such as customer, product, and order date.
Step 7: Edit Field Properties
Click a field (e.g., Customer Name) to open its Properties panel. You can:
-
Update the Display Label.
-
Change Aggregation settings.
-
Adjust Column Width or other visual settings.
Example:
Change “Customer Name” to display as “Customer”:
-
Open the dropdown under Display Name.
-
Type Customer.
-
The updated label appears immediately in your report.
Step 8: Reorder or Move Fields
-
Use the drag-and-drop dots beside a field name to reorder it or move it between sections.
-
Although drag-and-drop is limited in the training sandbox, it functions fully in live environments.
Try the “Drag and Drop” demo button to practice rearranging fields.
Step 9: Add a Page Field
Add Product Description to the Page section.
This makes it invisible in the report but available for filters or later use.
Step 10: Configure Filters
-
Navigate to the Filters bubble.
-
Choose Page Filters and locate Product Description.
-
Expand its filter options using the dropdown.
Since Product Description is a text field, it defaults to a multi-select list.
Adjust Filter Settings
-
Click Filter Settings → open the dropdown.
-
Choose Single Condition.
-
Click Save.
Now, define the filter condition:
-
Select Starts With from the condition dropdown.
-
Type the letter B.
-
Click Save again.
The report now displays only products beginning with B.
Use the Back Arrow to revert to the unfiltered view if needed.
Step 11: Change Report Type (Optional)
You can return to the first configuration bubble at any time to switch between Columnar, Group, or Pivot layouts.
When changing the report type, existing fields are automatically moved to the Page section so they can be reassigned easily.
Step 12: Save and Close
Click Save and Close to finalize your report.
Your new report is now part of Creator Basics and ready to use.
